[PODCAST] Diverse Routes: Career Journeys in Science & Medicine (Episode 3)

Bob worked for the National Park Service for 41 years in six different parks in six different regions. The last 29 years were spent as Wildlife Biologist on the Blue Ridge Parkway where he worked with a wide variety of animals and resources.

“I began with the National Park Service in 1979 as an Interpretive Ranger at Lincoln Home National Historic Site (IL), moved on to Boston National Historical Park (MA) as a Law Enforcement Ranger, continued on to Padre Island National Seashore (TX) where I got involved in Resource Management work. From there I went to Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site (MT) where I continued interpretive, law enforcement and resource management work while adding wildland firefighting. I moved to Whiskeytown National Recreation Area (CA) as Crew Boss and Engine Boss on wildland fires. In 1992 I moved to the Blue Ridge Parkway (NC/VA) as a district biologist, ending up as the park's Wildlife Biologist managing the T&E wildlife program, the park's aquatic resources, and the prescribed fire program. I retired in August 2020.”
